Central Chauffeur Services has been fortunate enough to supply our VIP chauffeur service for numerous celebrities and remarkable people to one of Birmingham”s prestigious highest profile events – The Pride of Birmingham Awards.
The increasingly popular evening, supported by MP”s, television celebrities and actors alike, awards exceptional acts of selflessness and bravery.
Outstanding “ordinary” people often excelling in extraordinary circumstances displaying a responsibility above and beyond the norm. For example: “Blind Dave Heeley” won Fundraiser of the Year Award. An extremely fit young man, Dave from West Bromwich was born with incurable Retinitis Pigmentosa and was told, aged 10, he was going blind. In 2008 he ran a seven-marathon “round the world” challenge from the Falklands, Rio de Janeiro, Los Angeles, Sydney, Dubais, Tunis, finally completing with the London Marathon.
A further challenge was 10 marathons in 10 days, from John O” Groats to Lands End, whilst cycling in between stages!
His fundraising and global running has covered the equivalent of 8,000 miles PLUS two laps of the earth! A spritely 60 years of age this year, Dave intends to run 25 races organised by the Great Run Company – two marathons, six half-marathons, two ten-mile events, ten 10ks, one five-mile race and four 5ks more than 230 miles, from Edinburgh to Ethiopia.
The event, hosted by Katie Piper featured celebrities including MOBO award-winning Handsworth star, Jamelia, Citizen Khan creator and Birminghams own, actor, Adil Ray OBE, Ore Oduba, Ashley Rice, Claudia Jessie, Ross Kemp and Nick Pickard.
Sutton Coldfield star Danielle Lloyd attended too. Danielle is involved with Caudwell Children and Bliss charities.
Former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton arrived, Game of Thrones star David Bradley and Line of Duty’s vivacious Claudia Jessie, James and Oliver Phelps (Harry Potter twins Fred and George Weasley), Alex Fletcher, Edgbaston born Annette Badland and many more…
